I’m a designer.

My name is Jessie.

I grew up in the Texas Hill Country where I was often drawing, painting, or helping in my parent’s garden. At the age of nine, my dad began building his first green home. Little did I know that observing and participating in the construction process would become a defining moment in my life. My passion to bring beauty to the world coupled with my dad’s house-building adventure led me to the field of architecture. I earned my Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio and later my Master of Architecture degree from the Politecnico di Milano. My binational training in the U.S. and Italy, not only has given me a unique perspective of the built environment, but has highlighted the broader impacts the built environment has on each of us and our planet. My core design interests are rooted in a holistic approach to architecture and urban design where environmental, economic, and social sustainability lead. To expand my understanding of these principles, I earned my LEED Green Associate credential and anticipate to receive my LEED AP BD+C in the near future.

Over the past thirteen years, I’ve had the opportunity to work in a variety of architectural sectors including transportation, k-12 education, and product design. Currently, I’m a Senior Architectural Consultant for WSP and have provided design and management services for large clients such as the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) and the United States Postal Service (USPS). My role has been to supervise the production/assembly of construction drawings and specifications, attend client meetings with the PM to define the project scope, review construction RFIs and submittals, facilitate multi-discipline coordination and accuracy, conduct on-site field surveys, and egress/code review. Through these projects, I’ve had the privilege of managing and mentoring architectural staff, fostering their professional growth, promoting collaboration, and altogether strengthening team synergy.

Before moving to D.C., I worked as a Design Manager for WSP and Miami-Dade County Public Schools, the third largest school district in the United States. With over 300 facilities, and countless renovations, remodels, and new-builds, my role was to review the design consultant’s construction documents for compliance with the district’s Design Standards. My other responsibilities included coordinating scope and project budgets with the in-house project managers and providing design services as needed (such as designing the interior of a media center and reviewing color boards).

Before joining WSP, I worked as a Senior Design Engineer for Harmonic Environments, where I developed design and engineering solutions for over 150 custom architectural products (stainless steel waterfalls and wine coolers). My role was to oversee the design and manufacturing process from concept to completion. You can find process sketches, sample shop drawings, and installation photos in the portfolio tab linked here.

I’m currently on the path to licensure and anticipate being licensed by early 2026. I’m also bilingual - English and Italian — and an Associate AIA member. In my free time I enjoy painting, photography, stargazing, and doing yoga. I also volunteer with various animal organizations to foster pets in need.
